Leadership communication in 20 hours
Twenty hours of the right practice will change how a leader communicates. Twenty hours of the wrong practice changes nothing, which is why most people plateau.
This course is built on the difference.
The three things it works on
- The briefing. Getting a room to understand something once, in the time you have, without repeating yourself for a week afterwards.
- The difficult conversation. Performance, disagreement, bad news. Structured so it stays a conversation.
- The room. Holding attention when you did not choose the audience, the slot or the mood.
Why deliberate practice rather than a course
Communication is a skill, so it behaves like one. It improves through repeated attempts at a specific thing, with feedback tight enough to act on, at a difficulty that is slightly uncomfortable.
So the structure is attempts, not lectures. Every participant speaks in every session, gets coached on one specific dimension at a time, and does it again. The twenty hours are budgeted deliberately across the three skills.
What it draws on
A decade of competitive speaking, including the 2019 Southern Africa Toastmasters championship, and the years since spent coaching other people through the same club structure. Toastmasters works because of the feedback loop rather than the curriculum, and that loop is what this course borrows.
How it runs
- Cohort based, small enough that everybody speaks every time
- Twenty hours across weeks, because spacing is part of why it works
- People bring real briefings and real conversations they have to have
- Recorded where the group agrees to it, because self-assessment without evidence is guesswork
